2015 Toyota GT 86
Toyota has revealed a slightly updated GT 86 for the 2015 model year, 2015 Toyota GT 86 featuring improved handling and rigidity.Despite only launching in 2012, the engineering team has continued development to further improve its dynamic characteristics,“There is no reason that development should stop, only because the vehicle has gone on sale. GT86 is all about driver involvement, and we are committed to keep enhancing this aspect of the car. The 2015 Model Year delivers the latest status of GT86’s continuous evolution,” said Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada.
The 2015 Toyota GT 86, 2.0-litre engine remains unchanged, winding up to peak performance of 147kW/205Nm, with either six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic and enables the sports car to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 to 7.6 seconds. four-cylinder, boxer engine that generates 200 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. Look inside the low-slung cockpit, and entry-level GT models get the high-spec instrument cluster of the GTS models, adding a digital speedo, shift-position indicator and red line warning light.
2015 Toyota GT 86The most important update consists of a more rigid fixation of the front suspension and the rear shock absorbers. The increased rigidity is exploited by the reworked shock absorbers, which provide a more stable damping and improved friction control, with Toyota claiming they deliver smoother and more communicative handling. Body-roll is also said to be further reduced, and the steering feel is crisper than before. Toyota says the suspension upgrade is aimed at making it easier for the driver to read the road, giving him all the confidence he needs to control the car, when it’s driven on the limit.
Meanwhile, more stable damping and improved friction management are achieved by stiffening the rear shock absorbers. Handling is therefore smoother, crisper, with feedback also improved and body-roll reduced even further.Elsewhere, a new carbon-fibre insert has been added to the dashboard, which offers a “more premium appearance” according to Toyota. 2015 Toyota GT 86There’s also a new shark-fin antenna for improved aerodynamics and visual appeal, an update complemented by new pearl-white and silver paint schemes.
